Support System Coaching

"Coaching is a process that aims to improve performance and focuses on the ‘here and now’ rather than on the distant past or future.

While there are many different models of coaching, here we are not considering the ‘coach as expert’ but, instead, the coach as a facilitator of learning.

There is a huge difference between teaching someone and helping them to learn. In coaching, fundamentally, the coach is helping the individual to improve their own performance: in other words, helping them to learn.

Good coaches believe that the individual always has the answer to their own problems but understands that they may need help to find the answer."

                                                                                Definition from: www.skillsyouneed.com/learn/coaching.html

The support system coaching service is specifically for
parents, families, caregivers, schools, daycares, residences, and clinicians,
and is meant to empower individuals and teams in the
caring, supporting or educating of someone else in their everyday lives.

Whether because of individual ability, desires, challenges, interests or a unique perspective due to various diagnoses, it can sometimes be overwhelming to pinpoint what someone with diverse abilities needs, how to approach difficult situations, what services are available, what can be done to help them reach their fullest potential beyond what is already being done, and how to maintain independence.

My approach is intended to offer a direct service to the support system surrounding an individual requiring assistance, that creates more empowered care providers, who apply their knowledge effectively and respectfully.

Regardless of which environment you are a part of, or whether you are an individual, a family or on a team,

the support system coaching follows the same process.

It begins with a needs assessment, which is followed by my recommendations in a comprehensive report.

The recommendations may include sessions/consultations with me

(varying based on environment and support system)

and/or referral to other services or resources.

My promise to you is to provide you the information that will truly make a difference in your life,
