CAREGIVERS
My approach and services are intended to be different.

My approach is built on the foundation of consciousness, self-reflection, curiosity, wilingness and understanding. It is anchored in the idea of community and collaboration,
and the belief that we have the ability to create change if we want it.

My services are meant to dig deeper into your situation and untangle your experience, in order to identify your authentic intentions and true needs, along with those of the person in your care. Services for Caregivers
"Coaching is a process that aims to improve performance and focuses on the ‘here and now’ rather than on the distant past or future.
While there are many different models of coaching, here we are not considering the ‘coach as expert’ but, instead, the coach as a facilitator of learning.
There is a huge difference between teaching someone and helping them to learn. In coaching, fundamentally, the coach is helping the individual to improve their own performance: in other words, helping them to learn.
Good coaches believe that the individual always has the answer to their own problems but understands that they may need help to find the answer."

ACCOMPANIMENT SERVICES
My accompaniment services are based on a coaching model and always begin with working directly with you to understand your priorities and to determine your needs.
Together, we reflect on your personal goals as well as your goals for the person you are caring for,
and compare those intentions to what you are currenting experiencing in your day to day life.
TThis process is what allows me to provide specifically tailored recommendations that are meant to accompany you in making the changes that you are ready to make.

There are many ways that I provide accompaniment,
both in regards to session format as well as the strategies and techniques used.
Your tailored service can include both in person and online sessions, each with specific purposes and goals. Sessions may implicate you, the individual requiring support,
or other supporters or professionals, based entirely on your personal situation.

PERSONAL CONSULTATIONS
Personal consultations are available online for caregivers in any location on an as-needed basis, without requiring a needs assessment, to support you in your unique situation.
They provide opportunities to discuss, brainstorm, and exchange about:

-
your personal experience in a safe safe, with someone with over 25 years of experience
-
concepts and theories about learning and development in relation to neurodiversity and disabilities, and their applications to your situation
-
joint deconstruction and reconstruction of your current structure, schedules, and routines in order to make changes to improve your situation on your own
-
application of professional recommendations to your situation, such as Speech and Language Pathologist or Occupational Therapist trategies
-
analyzing a specific situation to come up with a realistic, step-by-step approach that you feel confident using on your own to address whatever circumstances you're facing, including difficult and/or aggressive behavior
-
navigating the different public and private support systems (ie. CLSC, schools etc.), in order to meet you and loved one's needs.
COLLABORATIVE NEEDS ASSESSMENTS
Collaborative needs assessments are available to caregivers who are looking to work together with the support systems involved in the care of the person they are supporting.
Whether the person in your care frequents a daycare, a school, a recreational program, individual therapy sessions, or lives in a residential setting, a collaborative needs assessment provides insight into their unique perspective, breaks down their needs, and provides specific recommendations for meeting them within their existing structure.
Through observations and discussion with the support system in their natural environment, you and the implicated individuals receive a detailed report with realistic and applicable strategies meant to enhance the current supports, more effectivly meet the person in your care's unique needs, or even address specific challenges.
LANGUAGE AND COMMUNICATION
STIMULATION SESSIONS
I offer sessions to caregivers who are supporting someone of any age who is having difficulties with communication and/or who does not speak verbally.

They are beneficial for those who are looking for ideas and strategies for how to support the person they are caring for in their language and communication.
This includes those who are supporting someone who is waiting for a diagnosis, or has just received one and are waiting for public services to begin.
This also includes caregivers who have been in this for a very long time and are looking for a new way.
Furthermore, this also includes caregivers who are supporting an older person who has lost their speech, such as someone who has Alzheimer's.
CAREGIVER TRAININGS
I have created four training series that are available to caregivers, each tailored to a specfic need.

They are designed to equip and empower you with information and tools that increase your confidence and efficacy in meeting the needs of the person in your care.
RESOURCE SERVICE
Providing care for someone else requires energy at every turn, not only for providing direct care to the individual but also to seek information and remain up to date on resources. Not to mention the energy required to take care of oneself, and to focus on your work and your personal goals and relationships.

My individualized support offers you assistance in finding social and educational programs, residences and housing, job training, transportation training, leisure activities, protocols, procedure and laws relevant to your situation, available resources for your needs, and more.
I can also assist you with the paperwork required to gain access to resources.
COMPANION SERVICE
My companion service offers accompaniment during outings, shopping, appointments, or any other setting when a second pair of eyes and hands would be beneficial.
AUTISM ACCEPTANCE
I feel strongly that one of the biggest hurdles for people with autism and their families, is society's knowledge, or lack thereof, of autism.

My contribution to addressing this, is through offering presentations and workshops for youth, teens, adults, schools, communities and workplaces that provide information to help create autism awareness, that through continued discussion will shift to autism acceptance and inclusion.

I also offer a space here on my website in which people can share their personal stories in relation to autism.
Don't hesitate to contact me if you would like to share your story.
