RECREATION AND CAMPS

My various services meet your needs by providing targeted,

practical support and solutions for the everyday reality.

Camp and recreational environments can be challenging and/or overwhelming for some children and teens. It may be difficult to integrate individuals into groups, or perhaps to set up and enforce routines, expectations, and activities, that provide a pleasurable experience for everyone involved.

From my years working in various environments including summer camps, I understand first hand that there are many barriers when trying to include some individuals, and I recognize that a neutral party can be beneficial when trying to problem solve situations.

No matter the age of the person/people in your group, nor whether they have a diagnosis or not, my services can provide you with specific insight into your personal situation, such as:

  • exactly how to do what you need to do

  • clarifying neurodiverse needs

  • how to approach crisis situations and difficult behaviour

  • understanding neurodiverse perceptions

  • realistically applying techniques and strategies in the everyday routines

  • working together to meet the combined needs of individuals and groups

  • seeking new information and ideas for your toolbox

  • what can be done to help beyond what is already being done

  • promoting and/or maintaining independence

  • and more……

If you are looking for help with something that is not listed here, don't hesitate to contact me to find out if I can help.

Recreational Services

SERVICES

I work directly with intervention teams to understand their reality, as a means to:

  • understand the reality of the day to day routine;

  • find creative solutions that are realistic and applicable in meeting the combined needs of individuals as well as the team;

  • provide specific information and realistic tools and techniques for integrating and communicating effectively with someone who uses different methods of communication;

all within the available material and human resources.

I always strive to respect personal limitations, values and beliefs, and understand and acknowledge

who you and the person/people you are servicing, in order to provide more effective

existing interventions with fewer challenges for everyone involved.

Given that my services are needs based and solution oriented, a specifically tailored package

will be proposed to you, based on a completed needs assessment.

Recreation: Complete

"Coaching is a process that aims to improve performance and focuses on the ‘here and now’ rather than on the distant past or future.

While there are many different models of coaching, here we are not considering the ‘coach as expert’ but, instead, the coach as a facilitator of learning.

There is a huge difference between teaching someone and helping them to learn. In coaching, fundamentally, the coach is helping the individual to improve their own performance: in other words, helping them to learn.

Good coaches believe that the individual always has the answer to their own problems but understands that they may need help to find the answer."
